The City of Emerson is currently accepting application for a full-time position:

Public Works Director

 

This position plans, organizes and directs the activities of the public works department including but not limited to; water distribution, sewer collection, sanitation collection, streets, storm drainage, parks, vehicle maintenance and building maintenance.  

 

Successful candidates must have strong management skills and be familiar with water and wastewater treatment facilities, street repairs, building maintenance, parks, rights of way, inspections.  Candidates must be knowledgeable of construction materials, procedures, tools and equipment as well as safety precautions, be able to follow oral and written instructions, be capable of working independently of others, be able to bend, stoop, walk on uneven terrain and lift up to 50 lbs.  This position is also responsible for submitting reports to regulatory agencies, plans and manages departmental budgets, complies with purchasing policies, inspects contracted work performed, conducts performance evaluations, assists with GIS, zoning and land use permits.  This job requires outdoor work in various climates including heat, cold, rain and snow. 

 

Must possess a valid Georgia drivers license, a high school diploma or equivalent GED and pass a pre employment drug screening. Associates Degree, or the equivalent, in engineering, vocational or technical training in construction or related fields is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Starting salary is $52,000 - $70,000 dependent upon experience.
